“Self-driving trucks threaten one of America’s top blue-collar jobs”- Latimes

Although strong, @kitroeff is spot on with the title of her most recent article! I believe the large-scale adoption of automated systems (#TheAutomationEconomy) is just around the corner. Society will experience the positive impact almost immediately. This is great because we’ll undoubtedly experience an increase in the efficiencies of our supply chains systems everywhere freeing many to work on other non-repetitive tasks.

While we celebrate the benefits of our innovation, it is also important to remain mindful of the myriad ways the byproduct a redesign on labor can and most likely will have on those closest to the intersection.

Over the last several months, I’ve become increasingly uneasy about our answers to the question: what will become of the millions of middle-class blue collar service workers who will be affected? If autonomous computers replace them what will they do?

I’ve not heard very many of our current or potential leaders address this imminent shift. Now is the time to encourage the conversation. If we wait until companies begin replacing their labor pools with robotic systems it’ll be too late to soften the blow.

Check out the link bellow. Dig into Natalie’s piece on Self-driving trucks and how they threaten one of America’s top blue-collar jobs and let me know what you think.
