When you have a vision keep moving towards it. No matter who hates it!

A little over 3 years ago, Crain’s Chicago Business published an article highlighting Bit Capital Group, Chicago’s very first crypto mining company. I remember feeling a sense of pride the very moment I saw that picture on their site. Not so much because we had a write up in the prestigious Crain’s Chicago Business site, which was, of course, an honor, but more specifically because my partner and I had been working in private prior to that moment. We’d spent the last 2yr before that article, building out all of the infrastructure necessary to support ourselves and a potential early-adopting client base. Additionally, it was the first time my home city would be learning of it. What subsequently followed the publication of that piece was absolutely eye-opening.

I say this with all sincerity, I’d never experienced such raw hate and absolute vitriol from Chicago’s tech “leaders” as I did on that day. One “leader” went so far as to attempt to shout from the rooftop of a globally circulated business publication calling my partners and me “bozos”. In that piece, he went on to beg anyone who bothered to pay attention to him to NOT do business with us. This was not the only event nor the worse and while I won’t expound on the others here, one thing that became concisely clear was they were not isolated. This came from a city that promotes a public narrative of how forward-thinking it’s “leaders” are and how much they champion it’s tech entrepreneurs.

I’m truly grateful to God for that day and for so many more since then. Particularly because today, a little after the 3yr anniversary of that original Crain’s post, Bit Capital Group is now many times larger, we own a lot more renewable energy, are growing at a rate we could never have envisioned when we founded the company in 2015, and manage enough compute capabilities to successfully bootstrap an emerging market ourselves. And lastly, don’t forget Bitcoin just hit yet another all-time high; further cementing itself and its early adopters as not only technology but also the economic leaders of tomorrow.

We’re so much further than we were back then and much further than you could ever imagine possible. What comes NeXT will seem nothing short of magic and we’ve got the numbers to prove it. The future is very bright indeed!

Personally, I would never bet against passionate entrepreneurs and disruptive technology I never took time to understand. Instead, I’d much rather abandon hubris, humble myself, and connect with them, in an attempt to see what they saw, learn and understand where my vision failed.

While we continue bringing on more new clients each week, we still have power available for new clients. If you’ve been unsure about getting involved with crypto and have questions about mining as a means of entry, or need cheaper power rates for your current miners (yes we offer hosting services as well) we’d be more than happy to assist as you consider opportunities and potential pathways into the ecosystem. However, if you’ve not yet been exposed to the space and this article happens to be your first introduction, it may be helpful to start at A Beginner's Guide To Getting Started In The Cryptocurrency World (2017).
